Microlax is a solution for rectal use. Microlax contains, among other things, sorbitol. This substance promotes bowel movements through a moisture-attracting effect.
As a result, your stool becomes less hard and your bowel function is promoted. Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate facilitates the penetration of the Microlax solution into your stool. Microlax can be used if you suffer from constipation due to hard stool located in the last part of your large intestine, or if you are unable to hold back your stool. How do you use Microlax?Introduce the contents of a tube of Microlax solution for rectal use into your rectum (the lower part of the large intestine) via the cannula (the extended nozzle) on the tube.Dosage• Adults: One dosage unit is usually sufficient. If no bowel movement has occurred after the first administration of the product, you can repeat the treatment once after a few hours (2-3 hours). Administer the contents of a tube rectally by inserting the entire length of the cannula. The use of a lubricant is not necessary as a single drop of the mixture is sufficient. • Children: One dosage unit is usually sufficient. If no bowel movement has occurred after the first administration of the product, you may repeat the treatment once after a few hours (2-3 hours). Insert the cannula halfway into the rectum to prevent any damage to the intestinal lining. The contents of one tube may be administered. As a rule, defecation occurs 5 to 20 minutes after administration of one tube of Microlax.
